The Swedish National Road Administration (SNRA) has decided to run a large-scale trial involving intelligent speed adaptation (ISA) in urban areas. More than five thousand cars will be equipped with smart, supporting, voluntary systems to help motorists keep to the speed limits during 2000 and 2001. Two main types of systems are tested: Informative and Actively supporting ISA systems. Before-situation studies of the public opinion have been made in 1999, acceptance studies of pilots was made in spring 2000. Tendencies concerning the reaction from the drivers will be at hand in autumn 2000 concerning the informative system in Umeaa. Around 1700 vehicles are equipped now (June 2000) and around 5000 are expected in December. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
