Samenvatting

In this study 1,556 nearside seated occupants in isolated lateral collision were analyzed. Thirty-five persons suffered pelvic fractures, and 13 occupants femural fractures. In the paper the biomechanics of pelvic fractures is described including the biomechanics of femur as part of pelvic load in relation to delta-v (speed change), intrusion and vehicle deformation characteristics. The lateral deformation was measured and characteristics reproducted in a 3-dimensional view correlating to the injuries. (A)
