Innovation takes endurance. The Dutch government does not achieve as much innovative success as it could. One explanation is the large gap between innovators and day-to-day business processes. It takes endurance to develop a prototype into a mature and implementable product or process. Innovation is sometimes introduced as a panacea, a last resort when problems can not be solved with the available means and instruments; this entails unrealistic expectations. Innovation processes deserve a more prominent position within the business of governmental institutions in traffic and transportation field. (Author/publisher)
