The analysis is concerned with the inspection of motor vehicles for accident-causing defects. It is based upon surveys which were carried out by technical experts of the German K.U.V. It was found that the nature of the defects (tyres and brakes) and the age of the vehicle (over five years) were the main criteria on which to base the frequency of vehicle inspection.
