Samenvatting

The author presents a mathematical analysis of a vehicle negotiating a curve with downgrade superelevation. The study was initiated as a results of numerous skidding accidents at locations where highway geometrics include a combination of downgrade, curve and superelevation, after which it was concluded that lateral coefficient of friction and driver maneuvering are the most important factors in critical skidding.
