Samenvatting

An instrument is described which is used in experiments on driving behaviour in order to measure the lateral distance of a vehicle from a given reference line (mostly a white marking line on the road). By means of a rotating prism in front of a photodetector, the instrument scans the road surface sideways of the vehicle and it will detect a light intensity peak at the reference line. From this intensity peak the lateral distance between vehicle and reference line is derived.
