An instrument for the precise measurement of vehicle speed.

An experimental instrument is described, similar to the conventional type, but instead of an interrupted light team it applies laser beams. A helium-neon gas laser is used of 1 m w power and 1-16 inch diameter. The equipment is placed upon theodolytes. An accuracy of 0.2 per cent is obtained over a 5 ft. baseline.
