This paper describes the scope of Test Site Gothenburg of the ADEPT II project. The project focuses on electronic payment for transport applications and combines this with information services to the drivers. The main application for Test Site Gothenburg is automatic parking payment with microwave communication, using a vehicle-mounted transponder with a smart card. The technology is based on the latest technology for automatic road toll payment. Information applications for the test site comprise Highway VMS-signs, GSM services for traffic and parking information and Internet home pages with information on available parking and reservation. The first trials and demonstrations started in April 1997 and will continue over the summer of 1997. Extensive work on evaluation is included in the project plan, comprising institutional and legal, technical and socio-economic evaluation as well as an extensive user response evaluation. (A)
