Recently in our cities people mobility has deeply changed. Non-systematic movement demand (business, hobby and shopping) is becoming more and more important with respect to systematic movements (house, work and school). The use of private vehicles could result in a long and unpredictable journey, because of traffic levels of congestion in the city. On the other hand, public transport (tram and bus) does not completely suit non-systematic mobility demand and is difficult for some users. Finally, taxi companies offer an important, but quite expensive solution. As a consequence, various intermediate services are being created. In this paper a system is described which implements an innovative service, called People Service, successfully operative in the city of Rome. In particular, an integrated telematic system was successfully designed to allow a private transport company to offer integrated ITS services where users interact with the management system by using various media and communication channels: telephone line, Internet, GSM (WAP and Short Messages).
