Samenvatting

Most road users desire a quick, safe journey to their destination. This paper looks at a range of over 20 existing and future ITS functions, including for example traffic signals, route guidance and road pricing, to see how they impact on cycling and how they can be used to encourage cycling. The paper demonstrates that there can be first and second order benefits for cyclists from ITS, if there is a will to implement them. Some dis-benefits for cyclists as a result of ITS implementation are also highlighted. (A)
