Samenvatting

This paper was presented at the `Effective Public Consultation in Transportation Planning' session. The concept of the Quesnel Highway 97 North South Interconnector initially began in the 1950's and progressed through several levels of study since that time with no resolution on an alignment. This study objective was to provide a multidisciplinary approach for the identification of a preferred transportation corridor. The concept of the Interconnector was a contentious issue due to diverse options and options perceived within the community. One of the key activities of the study approach was to develop a true and meaningful public consultation program that provided the framework for opinions to be discussed and concerns resolved as the study proceeded.
