Samenvatting

Kuwait is faced with the difficult task of maintaining its extensive infrastructure. Aging infrastructure, severe conditions and difficulty in providing proper maintenance in the past years have caused the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) to seek more effective management tools for accomplishing cost effective capital and maintenance planning. In this respect, the Ministry has taken various steps including acquisition of data gathering equipment and the initiation of organizational changes. Furthermore, The Ministry of Public Works is currently in the process of implementing a computerized management system, the Kuwait Infrastructure Maintenance Management System (KIMMS) to assist in the management of the public works infrastructure. The main objective of this project is to plan, design, develop, and implement a computerized network level integrated infrastructure management system for Kuwait's unique needs and requirements. The infrastructure management system includes the following components: Roadway System (Pavement Management System, Right-of-Way Feature Management System, and Bridge Management System). Utility System (Sanitary Sewer Management System, and Storm Sewer Management System). Work Management System and Mapping. This paper highlights the key considerations of an Integrated Infrastructure Management System along with the analytical and general system requirements of both the integrated system as well as individual components.
