Yazaki Meter (hereafter Yazaki) has developed a system in which a digital tachograph is used in combination with an ETC system. This combined system allows the digital tachograph to select the appropriate preset upper speed and engine RPM limits of a vehicle automatically, based on the type of road where the vehicle is being driven, and the data received from an ETC tollgate. This improves the accuracy of operation management, while saving drivers from manual tasks. In addition, the system allows the ETC payment data contained in the tollgate data to be applied to other systems with ease. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
