Samenvatting

The Integrated Ship Control (ISC) project ATOMOS IV began in 1992. This plans to meet increasing demand for waterborne transport with decent profit margins within the constraints of limited human resources. ISC is onboard automation that supports the operation of ships, designed for low personnel requirements, safety/reliability, standardisation and cost efficiency. Ongoing research, including prototype testing, is described. The development of a methodology for retrofit of the European fleet with state-of-the-art ISC systems, and a full-scale demonstration retrofit are planned. Flow diagrams are used to present a project overview as part of this computer-based presentation. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
