Samenvatting

Statistical analysis is described of data on 1000 British drivers' accident histories and their performance on a screening instrument, with drivers' age as the parameter. The age-related associations with accidents parallel the decline with age of other visual abilities. A diagrammatic summary of age vision/mileage/accident inter-relationships is presented. Statutory re-testing of drivers' vision at about 6 age of 50 and thereafter is recommended.
