In this paper the possible value of the interactive approach to the policymaking concerning traffic and transport is dealt with. On the basis of the following two projects of the regional administration of Rijkswaterstaat in the province of North Holland the usefulness of interactive policy development is judged: (1) the reversible lane on the A1/A6 motorway; and (2) the A9 motorway short-term approach, which was intended, among other things, to increase the support for possible solutions to the A9 bottlenecks. On the basis of the experiences with both projects, it is not possible to make a final statement about the surplus value of the interactive approach.
