Samenvatting

In this paper an implementation of an in-vehicle support system is described. The support system gives truck drivers hints and feedback in real-time, to help refining their driving style. The system detects and rates the drivers behavior in situations that have substantial influence on the overall fuel consumption. In each situation a score is set based on the drivers actions. Feedback to the driver is given on a display in the instrument cluster. Relevant text messages are displayed when unfavorable or a very good behavior is detected. Early tests point to a connection between the driving score and the fuel consumption.
