Samenvatting

The project Interactive Security Systems for the transport of dangerous goods (IASS) is set up as a public-private-partnership aiming at the examination of the use of existing fleet management systems for interactive safeguarding of dangerous-goods-transports by road, rail or inland waterways in Bavaria. Mobile devices will be connected via satellite to a state-wide control centre for dangerous goods in Bavaria linking all the participants of transport. Emergency messages will be generated and forwarded to police offices and fire brigades in Bavaria via the control centre for dangerous goods. An important part of this project will be the setting up of a neutral and independent 'control centre for dangerous goods'. This will be organised privately as a self-help institution for the Bavarian transport industry. Participants are transport companies, transport organisations, network operators and service-providers. This control centre should be located in the centre of goods traffic in the harbour of Nuremberg. In cooperation with our partners we could show that with existing fleet management systems and in connection with the communication platform provided by PTV AG, the main aims of our proposal are feasible.
