Samenvatting

Project, NT1723 (Finalisation and Industry Engagement for the AATSC (Extension of NS1510)) aimed to continue the work required to encourage the industry in developing a prototype for the AATSC, and undertake further work in the specification of functional requirements in the AATSC architecture. The project successfully reached a consensus amongst jurisdictions in a roadmap for the development of a new generation of traffic signal controllers in Australia and New Zealand. The roadmap suggested a way forward which consists of: refinement of this report into a tender document suitable for selecting a controller manufacturer for the development of a prototype of the AATSC, development of a prototype and the associated technical specifications and the conversion of these technical specifications into a generic set of technical specifications for the call for the supply of AATSC controllers after type approval. The call for the supply of a new generation of controllers is to occur in about 2018. This report also clarified the logical architecture to facilitate the implementation of ‘plug-in’ traffic control software, as an alternative to the current TRAFF software. The key functional requirements of an API between the traffic control software and the Control Module software were also successfully compiled in this report. (Author/publisher)
