Samenvatting

The first years experience since July 1, 1982, the effective date of the North Carolina child passenger safety act, is summarized. Statistics show that 46% of the children in crashes were protected by the statute and that death and injury rates are down because restraint use is up. Statistics show that for children covered by the law, there was an immediate jump in use, corresponding to the law's effective date.
