Samenvatting
The international symposium on "surface transportation system performance" held in Washington, May 11-13, 1981 was divided in the following 5 areas. 1. Energy conservation and the transportation system 2. Impact of the transportation system on the environment 3. the transportation system and urban form 4. the role of transportation in economic development and 5. transportation system safety. In this report the papers are summarized and reports of the workshops are presented.
