Samenvatting

Interoperability is a new paradigm in tolling industry. With the birth ofORT (open road tolling)-based tollroads, it is increasingly becoming a critical factor for new development. However, the implementation of the well-known interoperability model is often challenged by tollroads reality constraints. An insider's view, this presentation is based on the author's 10years of firsthand experience in multilane free-flow (MLFF) tolling, alsoknown as ORT. This experience includes more than 5 years with the Melbourne City Link, leading the development of Transurban's pioneering tolling system, and another 5 years with Autopista Central (AC), a 60-kilometer road in Santiago, the capital of Chile, and Latin America's first ORT-based urban toll road.
