Samenvatting

In July 2000, the nation-wide French inter-operators EFC system will be put into operation with the implementation of more than 1600 EFC lanes and the delivering of several hundred thousand tags. The eight French Motorway Operators decided to acquire interoperable On Board Equipment (OBE) and Road Side Equipment (RSE) compliant with European DSRC Standards. In 1998 and 1999, orders were confirmed to three suppliers of OBE or RSE: Alcatel CGA Transports, CSSI (CS Route) and GEA/Combitech Traffic Systems. The ASFA (Association des Societes Francaises d'Autoroutes) is in charge of the verification of the interoperability of this equipment whatever the supplier. The methods, tools and means implemented before operational deployment in order to guarantee the technical interoperability between On Board and On Ground Equipment are described. (A*)
