Interurban roads and motorways. Report from Brazil.

The main areas of research in Brazil were: (1) the use of origin destination surveys and traffic counts for evaluating the present conditions of the road network; (2) the identification of accident black spots; the procedure used for this identification is outlined; and (3) improvement of the level of service of roads by addition of a third lane to increase highway capacity.
