Samenvatting

Interurban Transport Management is becoming one of the most interesting issues in the field of Advanced Telematics for practical applications. A lot of different subsystems can be integrated into a complete package (i.e. speed control, ramp metering, variable message signs, automatic incident detection, etc). At present, Open Architecture Concepts are suitable enough to be used and implemented during this integration process, so that the final result is a full modular and easily expandable product. As an operational example, the recent deployment of the Madrid M-30 ringroad motorway Traffic Management System is discussed. (A)
