Samenvatting

On November 1st, 1974 a 0,5 limit was introduced in the Netherlands. The effect on drinking and driving was measured by a series of road-side surveys and the effect on accidents is discussed. In the before-period, surveys were conducted on weekend nights during the autumn of 1971, 1971 and 1973. The after situation was measured by a small scale survey in November 1974 and a more extensive survey in the Autumn of 1975. Changes in B.A.C. distribution are given in relation to time of day, trip origin, age and sex of driver. Results are discussed with a view to possible future countermeasures.
