Samenvatting

Intersections can be problematic for older drivers, who are overrepresented in fatalities at intersections. This article describes a demonstrationproject at an intersection in Sun City, a retirement community in the greater Phoenix area. The project was unique in that residents were includedin a pre-project focus group and a post-project user assessment. The respondents were appreciative at being included in the project and enthusiastic about the changes at the intersection. Incorporating nearby residents in the project evaluation contributed to their buy-in on this project and may build support for future projects.
