Samenvatting
Sapporo city with 1.8 million citizens has been expanding as a central city of the Northern Regions, and holds the typical road environment problems of a cold, snowy region, such as snowy and icy road surface, and visibility obstacle caused by blowing snow, because the annual snowfall in Sapporo is approximately five meters. In order to deal with these problems, the investigation and the research concerned with construction of efficient management system of winter road is in process by introducing the information providing systems and driver assistance systems of ITS.
