Samenvatting

Recent rapid development of ITS in Taiwan has brought the transportation system into a new era. In order to expedite ITS deployment process and assure system's connectivity, the government decides to build an ITS test field to evaluate technologies that can be used in ITS. The test field contains a center (Traffic Management and Information Center, TMIC), integrated roadside units (Traffic Communication and Information Station, TCIS), and road user assistant device (On Board Computer, OBC). Three major components are connected through various communication links. The testing results will lead to generate national ITS standards that assure that all ITS plug-in devices are compatible and communicable to other devices in the test field. The system architecture of the test field defines clearly what roles that the public and private should play and prepares the way towards a harmonic partnership. (A*)
