Samenvatting
The purpose of the article is to review different theoretical approaches to the psychology of cause within the framework that recognises such attributions as resulting from processes of judgement under uncertainty. Despite the debate and lack of agreement as to the formal definition of causality, it is argued that people use systematic rules for assessing cause, both in science and everyday inference.
