This paper answers the following two questions: (1) to what degree Dutch national average safety indicators for traffic accidents can be used in the framework of a study into the traffic safety effects of the construction of a new A 15 motorway connection; and (2) whether the safety indicators can be used for prognosis calculations of this construction.
