Samenvatting
The new method to describe the quality of optical instruments with contrast transfer functions is applied to vision with telescopes. The separate influences of optical aberrations, stray light, and light losses are discussed. The multi-applicability of contrast transfer functions, though not strictly holding for the eye plus telescope system, may be used as a rule of thumb.
