Unfälle werden sich auch in Zukunft nicht völlig vermeiden lassen. Mit den Erkenntnissen der Unfallforschung kann versucht werden, einerseits die Unfallfolgen zu minimieren und andererseits die Risikosituationen, die zu einem Unfall führen, zu verdeutlichen. Kollisionsanalyse und Unfallanalyse sind die Werkzeuge dazu. Einheitliche und realisierbare Definitionen ermöglichen den Austausch und Vergleich der Ergebnisse verschiedener Forschungsinstitute. Damit kann die eingangs erwähnte Transparenz des Unfallgeschehens erreicht werden. Dies sollte das Ziel der zukünftigen europäischen und internationalen Forschung sein. By the help of the knowledge obtained by accident research, however, it is possible on one hand to minimise consequences of accidents, and, on the other, to explain risk situations that lead to accidents. The analysis of collisions and accidents is the appropriate tool for this. Standardised and feasible definitions enable both the exchange and the valid comparison of results of different research institutes and thus help to build up the necessary lucidity in matters of accident research. This is supposed to be the future aim of the European and international research in this field. (A)
