The feedback mechanisms between functional disturbances of the central organ and the protracted neurogenic shock syndrome, caused by severe closed skull and brain trauma, are of decisive importance for the clinical course. In the acute phase, conservative treatment of the perfusion disturbance by increased intracranial pressure and of the brain oedema is indicated.
