Kopf- und Halsverletzungen bei Sicherheitsgurtenträgern. (Head and neck injuries in wearers of safety belts.)

A study of car accidents in which 257 vehicle occupants were severely injured and 153 fatally (all occupants wearing safety belts) was made in particular to the injury of the head and the neck. The head is, even with safety belts, the most dangerous part of the human body, in cases of accidents. Well adjusted head rests give protection for neck injuries in rear end collisions.
