Problems of first aid for severe road casualties (trauma, shock, coma) are discussed. Methods of administering first aid to victims of road accidents are described, as well as methods of transport. The distribution of ambulances under Italian conditions, equipment of ambulances and hospitals are discussed. The need for specialized teams in hospitals to deal with the various forms of road casualties is stressed.
