Samenvatting

The need for a permanent an unobtrusive axle sensor for vehicle detection and classification has long been recognised. Both triboelectric and piezoelectric cables are candidates for in- ground operation.Field tests of the triboelectric cable sensor have already indicated that, if properly interfaced. It is suitable for above- ground use. The operating characteristics of the piezoelectric cable sensor are relatively unknown and depend on how it is installed. This paper describes several mounting configurations for both cable sensors.
