Samenvatting

Rutting of bituminous pavement layers has often been observed in recent years. This is particularly due to overlaying on existing wear surface which is primarily not mix designed for rutting resistance and particularly due to increased axle load (from 10 to 11.5 ton in 1993). This paper presents a laboratory procedure for localizing the highest rutting potential bituminous layer in a multi-layer pavement by using static creep test. Cores with more than one layer have been tested at 60 degrees C. The procedure has been evaluated by testing each layer by the dynamic creep test at 40 degrees C and a newly developed shear test.
