Samenvatting
This report presents a method for road traffic accident analysis, described in a practical form in order to be usable in safety diagnosis studies, because such studies, preparing road infrastructure improvements or local traffic safety programs, require a relatively detailed understanding of accidents unfolding. This method takes place in the methodological framework elaborated at INRETS since 1980 for the program "Etude Détaillée d'Accidents" (in-depth accident investigation), based on a sequential model of the road accident, and on related factual, functional and causal approaches.
