Alcohol plays to a large part in the total number of traffic accidents. Without serious efforts to create a legal body for the enactment of the necessary repressive measures, any limitation of this problem seems to be impossible. Although Belgian authors in scientific legal studies consider drunken driving a serious crime, the Belgian legislation deals with drunken driving only as an object for preventive measures. Various legal solutions are discussed in order to put an end to the evolution of offences conducted under the influence of alcohol.
