Samenvatting
One chapter deals with operating and fuel consumption parameters (power needed, vehicle, engine and transmission parameters, driving, road structures). Forecasting models allowing the calculation of fuel consumption and vehicle performance data are given in particular, it is possible to calculate the fuel consumption of lorry traffic on roads of given design characteristics. The safety aspects is rapidly described but the analysis of lorry accidents allows to envisage possibilities of ameliorating safety. Finally, the prospects of evolution of lorries are presented, particularly possible ameliorations in the fields of reduction of fuel consumption, safety, noise and air pollution.
