Samenvatting
The combined rail- road transport systems proposes transporting freight vehicles by rail. Comparing the costs of journeys purely by road with road- rail transportation, this paper describes the theoretical market area for each method. The importance is shown of various parameters for each market area; length of rail journey, weight of load, extent of long- distance empty journeys.
