Samenvatting

This paper describes the development of the learner driver questionnaire (LDQ) designed to identify traits in young drivers which could lead to unsafe driving behaviour. A pilot version was drawn up and tried on a small sample of learner drivers. The final version was tested on pupils from 3 comprehensive schools and validated by asking 12 young offenders for their responses. The validity of the questionnaire is discussed. The analysis of data and calculation of norms is outlined. The LDQ is accompanied by feedback information including a profile of the driver and advice to remedy inappropriate attitudes.
