Samenvatting
Recent disasters have highlighted the need for clear escape routes in tunnels; LED technology could be the answer. This article discusses the results of scientific studies examining LED technologies and their application, including the effectiveness of visual guidance using LEDs. Also explained is the importance of escape route identification in tunnels, using analysis of past tunnel fire disasters. Apart from the distance to the emergency exits, escape behaviour is greatly influenced by emergency lighting and escape route identification. For the covering abstract see ITRD E139966.
