Samenvatting

Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are an attractive alternative to incandescent lamps in highway devices because of their low power consumption and potential longetivity, The Maryland State Highway Administration's (MSHA's) methodology fo testing and approving these devices needed to address certain public safety and economic issues before permitting their use. This article discusses some of the issues that confronted the MSHA as it engaged in the consideration of LEDs for use on Maryland roads. (Author/Publisher)
