Legal aspects of data collection in automobile collision investigations.

Samenvatting

The legal factors of accident investigation regarding the data and the investigator are discussed in light of the Highway Safety Act of 1966, which provides that agents of the federal government and their findings can be subpoenaed. Al though no court decision has been sent down it is believed that accident investigators under contract to the federal government are hot agents of the federal government. Advice on course to follow in case of subpoena, how to avoid legal involvement, and personal interviewing problems is given.
