Samenvatting

The significant results of the research project are: - Nationwide approx. 12 million deployments were done by public rescue services in 2012/13 with a total of 14.3 million emergency drives. The deployment rate amounts to approx. 147 deployments per 1000 inhabitants and year. - 52% of the deployments are classified as emergency by the control room staff and 48% are classified under the ambulance service category. - Over two fifths of all the emergency deployments are made by including an emergency physician (emergency intervention). Almost one third (29%) of the emergency cases related to road accidents are handled by an emergency physician. - Approx. 3.5% of the emergency deployments are applicable to a road accident, which corresponds to 208,000 nationwide deployments. The distribution of the remaining deployments for emergencies with and without the involvement of an emergency physician amounts to: other emergency 51%, internist emergency 34%, other accidents (e.g. house, school and sports accidents) 11% and workplace accidents under 1%. - The distribution of the rescue types for nationwide deployments in 2012/13 is: rescue van 57%, ambulance 24 %, emergency ambulance 18 %, emergency ambulance and rescue helicopter/intensive transport helicopter under 1 %. - During deployments, approx. 50% of the deployments are done with special right of way. Nationwide this corresponds to 8.4 million deployments annually under special right of way. - The disposition and alarm time for the deployments with special rights of way amounts to 2.5 minutes on an average. In case of deployments without special rights of way, the disposition and alarm time amounts to 14.5 minutes on an average. - For deployments with special rights of way, average help period is 8.4 minutes based on the first arrived rescue means, while 95% of the emergencies are serviced within 16.9 minutes.
