This report was drafted within the framework of research conducted by the IRT on mobility and modal choice in interurban public transport systems. It reviews transport demand model principles and different analyses conducted recently. From observations made on these models emerge two facts: the importance of the data base and selection of adequate variables, and the interest offered by disaggregate models for bringing a better understanding of the mobility concept of the travelling public and of the way in which the latter look at transport modes and select a suitable one.
