In this report 108 examples of surface dressings from the Danish road network are presented. From visual inspections conditions and remaining service life are estimated and compared to traffic and pavement conditions. All data are presented in an illustrated catalogue. The average age of the selected surface dressings was 11 years. The average remaining service life was estimated at 5 years which gives an average estimated service life of 16 years for the selected surface dressings. The selected surface dressings show good workmanship. All conclusions in this report are only valid for the selected surface dressings and it is not possible to transfer the results to surface dressings in general. Data are not statistically evaluated but the following observations are made: (1) Only a few of the selected surface dressings show characteristic deteriorations. This makes it hard to point out parameters important for service life; (2) For the selected surface dressings service life depends on traffic, and decreases gradually with traffic volume; (3) Some dependency of service life on the type of surface dressing is observed; and (4) Pavement and subsoil condition seems not to affect service life of the selected surface dressings.
