Samenvatting
An experimental field study was carried out to find the optimal light point distance of symbols on variable message matrix signs, and to establish the relation between the surround luminance and the symbol luminance. Judgements were obtained with respects to visibility, legibility, degree of fusion of the light points and the glare of the symbol.
